These are from last Fall/Winter (2012) and completely make sense in the scope of the collection. It was mountain sports themed. If you look at Y-3's design philosophy there is always a pair that is a nod to a classic pair of Adidas (in this case the Superstar or Shelltoe) with a slightly mutated twist on the theme incorporating the recent collection.
Y-3 is designed as a true fashion brand rather than a street wear one which means everything is centered around the central theme and designed to go with the current collection.
