Well, practical yes! But don't think I want mine down near DIRTY ground while open where shoes/feet &bugs are...no! Prefer, product that @mlhenson mentioned. :-)

Good point @mlhenson. I still think it's a cool idea. You could use these at the beach and not get sand all over the can...and helps prevent accidental spills.
