They use solid round ice balls because it doesent melt as quick and water a drink down and keeps it colder

Expensive because of the metal used. MaCallan uses two copper cylinders for theirs. This is totally awesome, but For the price go with the name brand

thoma12 - It is awesome. I researched these things and discovered that ice ball makers are made of aluminum, not copper. Macallan's gold unit is anodized aluminum, Cirrus uses a clear anodize. I had first seen a Macallan unit being used at a hotel & a friend had bought a Cirrus maker so I was able to compare the two and the reason I went with Cirrus is I think it looks aesthetically better. It's a few $100 bucks less, but they're all pretty expensive.
