@minnicheer13: you're right they're just fish, not the end of the world if they die within the hour. But it's still cruel, and a waste of time, and your children will cry... So, no, not super cool.
One goldfish needs at least 15-20 gallons of filtered, oxygenated water, with regular water changes. For each additionnal goldfish, you need 10 more gallons. Goldfish can live up to 15 years and grow up to a foot long, given the proper environment.
