It sucks. Its pretty, but it'll be VERY uncomfortable to use your laptop on this. Again: design over usability.

i disagree with you @zakroma usability in this situation accounts for less than optimal space. adding utility to an otherwise unusable area, or at least one that could handle the full workstation. it seems to be more function than form IMO.
