I don't know about the generel credit card terms in the US, but in Denmark where I live, people would never pay 2.75% (!!) to "nobody". That's kind of a lot!! But I love the concept. Needless to say, there are no fees whatsoever on using a regular credit card in an ATM or in a store in Denmark.
@alca11 There are always fees my friend... When you pay with your CC, you pay an interest rate for paying (because you're basically in debt with the card company). and I think that every time you take money from the ATM with your CC, they charge you something like 2euro. Maybe the detail vary per country, but there is no free stuff with Credit Card companies!
PS: Square is the future! I want it in Amsterdam!
@Gizenga Not true homie.. In Denmark, there are no fees on using your card. No percentage being charged of the total amount, and no transaction fee (like 2€). There is a flat fee equivalent to 20$ a year for having a Visa card, however, all the major Danish banks pay this fee. This makes sense, because that way you can always choose to carry only your credit card, and use it even for buying a burger for 1€, without it having to cost 3€. That must truly be the future. Not having to use cash, because it costs the same to use the digital alternative.
@alca11 hmm, that would be interesting, and I have a feeling we're not talking about the same thing. I'm talking about the e2 fee when you take money with your CC out of the ATM. When you pay with it, it doesn't cost you anything more (except the interest if you're actually using the credit). There is a difference if on your cards stand "Visa" / "MasterCard" or "Visa Electron" / "Maestro". And it also makes a difference if your bank, or the country, has adopted the new European card system in witch debit cards look like credit cards (that's that Maesto and VisaElectron), but you use them to do payments with your normal bank (=debit) @alca11
