there is a point to frozen water in a drink, these just scratch your glassware.
But I guess the idea is not to water down your fancy liquors. These actually might scratch less than the stones.

I just got a shipment of these from somewhere else, they work OK, as said on many site reviewing them they are not good for cooling large amounts of liquid - so they are best for fine alcohols; they are actually quite large and pose very little choking hazard potential; they are very smooth and when immersed in liquid do not bash into the glass as you might think. I'm not blown away by them, it's more of a quaint novelty, conversation starter, or for sticklers for a perfectly non-watered down drink experience.
