Hello, this is Chris Ferguson. I designed and manufacture this product. Kevbev, thats a good question and concern. The answer is yes and no... If you get it really dirty it will not stick very well untill you clean it off. You can clean it off with a little soap and water and its like new again. The gel is not an adhesive, it uses suction to attach.
Why is it do expensive, when there are many alternatives out there for a fraction of the cost? Will this be coming down in price?
