Smart case, smart cover works with a magnet to shut down your iPad. So i don't think is bad for a phone.
I have these on phone and tablet and its about the best thing ever.. the magnet alone on the back of your device is incredibly convenient (you'll be surprised how often you stick it somewhere- backsplash of stove while cooking, refrigerator door for music remote while entertaining, etc etc), and the ball mounts are great too.
magnet for mobile is not good idea
It's fine it can just mess up the magnetic compass but u simply do that fig 8 motion to recal!
